Daycare

Daycare is a service offered to people who would benefit from spending time at a daycare centre out of the home. These centres are set up to offer a range of services to the elderly, people with disabilities, people with illnesses and as a way of giving respite care to carers and relatives.

The kind of activities and services offered by day care centres will vary according to the centre in question. Typical services may include:

Daycare centres can be run by government institutions, charities, care homes and community organisations. In most cases people will be offered transport to and from the centre as part of the service. Charges for this kind of centre will vary according to what kind of centre you attend. Most daycare centres will have at least a small charge to cover their basic costs. In some areas a daycare centre may run once or twice a week and in others it may run every day depending on the services on offer.
